Today (23 October) is a national holiday in Hungary. This day commemorates, since 1989, the start of the 1956 revolution against enforced Soviet rule in Hungary, which ultimately ended in complete disaster for the Hungarians.
This song was written and dedicated to remember this event, and concentrates on one tiny aspect of it – the eventual renaming of a city square in Budapest from the soviet approved “Moszkva tér” (Moscow square) back to its pre-soviet name, all the more remarkable as this renaming happened actually only a few years ago. Goodbye, Moszkva tér.
